Instant Wheat Dosa Recipe - Godhuma Dosa Recipe

Instant Wheat Dosa Recipe  - Godhuma Dosa Recipe:

Here comes another recipe which is quite helpful when I have no time. When I was having my MBA exams, I and my friend studied together. She used to prepare Wheat Dosa/Godhuma Dosa for almost all dinners. Before that, I was not a fan of wheat dosa. I thought Noodles was only the quick dinner I could make. After eating wheat dosa for many days, I slowly started loving wheat dosa. Apart from being a quick recipe, wheat dosa(Godhuma Dosai in Tamil) is a healthy one too. Only  getting the right consistency of the wheat dosa batter is the difficult part. It will get easy once you try it frequently. Coconut chutney, onion chutney, red chilli chutney and tomato onion chutney are great accompaniments for wheat dosa. The recipe here tells you how to prepare crispy and healthy wheat dosas.

Ingredients:

  • Wheat Flour - 100g
  • Rice Flour - 100g(or another 100g wheat flour. Add Rice flour for crispiness and better taste)
  • Salt - To Taste
  • Black pepper  - 1 tsp(optional)
  • Cumin seeds - 2 tsp crushed
  • Water - 400ml

  • To Temper

  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Green Chilli - 2 nos
  • Curry Leaves - Few
  • Hing - A pinch

Instructions - How to make Wheat Dosa | How to make atta dosai or godhumai dosai?

1. Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds. Allow it to splutter.

2. Add Urad dal, 2 red chillies or green chillies, curry leaves and hing. Fry well until the color of Urad dal starts changing.

3. Take a mixing bowl, add the wheat flour, rice flour and required salt. Add cumin seeds and whole black pepper if you like. Crushed cumin seeds add more taste to the wheat dosa.

4. Add the tempered items in the mixing bowl. Give a quick stir.

5. Add water little by little. The wheat dosa batter should be without lumps and thin and little watery. But do not add so much water. Check the pictures below for the consistency of the batter.

6. Heat tawa and grease the tawa with little oil. Once the tawa is hot, pour the ladle of batter starting from outside. Fill all the gaps immediately. The procedure is similar to how we do for rava dosa.

7. Drizzle a teaspoon of oil in and around the wheat dosa.

8. Once the bottom of the wheat dosa starts getting brown spots, flip the wheat dosa to the other side and allow it cook. Even the edges of the wheat dosa starts getting brown and turn crispy.

9. Take off the wheat dosa from the tawa once the bottom side of the wheat dosa gets brown spots as shown in the below picture. Mix the wheat dosa batter well before pouring for every dosa.
