Bored of preparing chutney all the time for Idli, Dosa and Pongal? But do you feel that you don't have much time to prepare other side dishes.. Here is the easy recipe of Sambar for Idli. It is very simple and    will be ready in few minutes. Your intervention will be very less. Try this easy but healthy Idli Sambar recipe. This is a basic version and I will post the restaurant style Sambar recipe soon.

Idli Sambar Recipe - Quick and Easy Recipe of Sambar for idli


Serving size - 3

Ingredients:


Yellow Moong Dal - 50 gms
Onion - 1 medium size chopped
(or)
Small onions - Handful
Tomato - 1 finely chopped
Green Chillies -2
Basin Flour/Gram Flour - 1 tbsp
Sambar powder - 1/2 tsp
Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Jeera powder -1/2 tsp
Salt - As required
Corriander leaves - few

Optional:

Carrot - 1
Potato - 1
Drumstick - 1

To Temper:

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal -1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Oil - 1 tsp
Red chilli - 1(optional)

Preparation:


1. Rinse and clean the Moong dal well. Put it in pressure cooker.
2. Add onions, tomato, green chillies, turmeric powder and required salt. Add required vegetables.
3. Add required water and close the lid. Switch on the stove, put in full flame and wait for 6 whistles.


4. Once the pressure is released, open the lid.
5. Mix the basin flour in 100 ml water well without lumps. Using your hand is the best way to mix it.
6. Add it to the sambar and add Sambar powder(Click here for the Sambar powder recipe), Dhaniya powder and Jeera powder.
7. Let it boil for 10 minutes in simmer.
8. Switch off the stove.
9. Heat oil in a pan and add the 'To Temper' items. Wait till they splutter. Then add it with the Sambar.
10. Clean the coriander leaves and add to the Sambar for garnishing.

Now the Sambar for idli is ready. You can make sure that you prepare a full fledged dinner in less time. If you are also able to prepare coconut chutney or coriander chutney I am sure you will get a lot of appreciation.
