Olay Total Effects 7 IN ONE cream + serum duo SPF 15 Review

Hello friends,

Olay Total Effects 7 IN ONE cream + serum duo SPF 15 is the first product I tried from Olay. It is not just a cream but a serum which means to work in a more concentrated way. The cream + serum promises to fight against 7 signs of ageing - fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, age spots, uneven skin texture, dryness, dullness and pores. Hmmm... It is quite a long list. Let us directly jump into the review of Olay Total Effects 7 IN ONE cream + serum duo SPF 15.

Know more about Cream and Serum:

First thing, I wanted to clearly know before trying Olay Total Effects 7 IN ONE cream + serum duo SPF 15 is, the difference between cream and serum. After a quick search in the internet, I got a satisfying answer. Creams are made by mixing oil with water whereas Serums are more liquid-like and or water based. So, Serums are typically lightweight and absorbed easily into the skin when compared to creams. Creams may or may not have active ingredients to address specific skin problems and they are best suited for normal and dry skin people. Serums are a concentrated solution to have key ingredients to address specific skin problems. Since they are water based, they are suitable for all skin types.

What they claim:

Olay Total Effects 7 IN ONE cream + serum duo SPF 15 is a fragrance free and most concentrated formula for anti-aging skin care. It is designed to fight 7 signs of aging in one step. The result is visibly younger-looking skin.

Direction to apply:

Apply the cream liberally and gently smooth onto the face and neck.

My View:

Seeing the direction for applying the cream, I made a mistake of taking the cream + serum liberally. I ended up applying the remaining cream on my hands. It is not required to take more cream liberally like other creams. So, the pack will last for more than a month. The packing looks so impressive. You have to pump out the plastic bottle to take the cream + serum. It makes little wastage every time I use. I do not want it to happen since the price is high.

You need to wait few minutes for the cream to be absorbed completely. It is fragrance free. Is it a pro or con ?? My hubby does not like the cosmetics I use which have strong fragrance. So, it is certainly a pro for me. But, if you are a fan for nice and strong fragrance, sorry, you will get disappointed.

Coming to the effectiveness of the product, Olay Total Effects 7 IN ONE cream + serum duo SPF 15 scores 100% in fighting the following signs - Fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, uneven skin texture, dullness and reduction in pores. You have to wait for sometime to get rid of age spots. I can see the difference in the spots. They are disappearing slowly. It can score 100% if you can wait with patience. I know the creams which promise to fight against spots which never do it really. When I compare Olay Total Effects 7 IN ONE cream + serum duo SPF 15 with such creams, the product surely wins. Regarding dryness, I feel it is a long way to go. My skin is a dry one and it takes time to fight with dryness. It is not a complete solution for moisturization.

Pros:

1. Effective in reducing fine lines and wrinkles

2. Balances and evens out the skin tone
3. Gradually reduces the appearance of age spots
4. Smoothes and evens out the skin texture
5. Gives skin radiance and removes the dullness
6. Gradually reduces the appearance of the pores

Cons:

1. Little bit of cream gets wasted most of the time while pumping out

2. Little bit expensive. But, most of the serum are expensive

My recommendation is to try this product if you have the above signs of aging even if you are younger or if you are above 30.

I have a very dry skin and I am 30+ . I want to try this cream. Do you use moisturiser after you apply this cream, as I dont think this cream will suffice to moisturise my skin?

    1. Hi Kavitha, Thanks for visiting my blog. I use plain curd for moisturizing face. You can apply it and allow it to dry before washing your face. Himalayas moisturizing lotion also works great!! Keep visiting :-)
